University of Toronto win this year’s NHH International Case Competition

For the second time around NHH arranged its International Case Competition. This year with with Finance Innovation as sponsor. 40 students from 10 different international universities gathered in Bergen to solve this year’s case: DNB Liv.

Anders Skjævestad, CEO of DNB Liv presented the students with the following task: Create ideas for today and tomorrow – pension and life insurance.

The 10 teams got cracking on the case and by Friday three finalists were chosen to present to the jury; University of Toronto, Georgetown University and Copenhagen Business School.

It was a tough call between the three finalists and all the teams impressed the jury with their case solutions, however Håkon Hansen, EVP Wealth Management, DNB and Anders Skjævestad announced University of Toronto as the winning team of this year’s competition.

The winning team consisted of Ibraheem Aziz (Management), Mykyta Tymko (Management), Margie Magbitang (Management) and Zena Xing (Finance & Economics).

-Solving the case was a challenging experience, as there were many ways to analyze the problem of generating market growth among young Norwegians in the pension & life insurance markets. Throughout the 24-hour period, we debated extensively among ourselves, ultimately working hard to build our idea and “sell” it to the judges, says Zena Xing.

-Winning the competition felt very satisfying, and it felt great to be rewarded for our hard work after much effort, says Ibraheem Aziz.

Congratulations to the winning team, all the students who partook and DNB.
